I struggled too long with a title for this one and eventually settled on what we have here. I've been trying to write my lyrics more like the way I write poems: celebrating the little things for what they are and not making a big point. Here's some of those little things from a recent walk. This street is nothing magical.
We don't expect a cure
as we walk a route we've done
a hundred times before.

The sky's on fire,
the street littered with poetry,
I pocket just a few I like
to keep this simple moment with me.

We pass a house
with renevations underway,
the scraps of its past out by the curb--
therapy out on display.

Could we open this
light blue door left on the street
and walk into the world we want?
Could it be that easy?

Oh, if only it were that easy.

This night is nothing magical.
It can't prove it is at least.
But we can choose to walk inside
with suspended disbelief.
